Brews for the Weekend: 4 Color Marvel Delirium

This deck uses the awesome power of Aetherworks Marvel combined with the deck’s ease in finding additional colors to make another excellent deck.

Aetherworks Marvel

Many of the usual suspects are here. Marvel will find you the massive threats the deck is famous for. Emrakul, the Promised End tends to be the best hit, but Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is available, as is Ishkanah, Grafwidow.

Attune with Aether allows you to lower your land count so you’re finding more action, provides you with energy, fuels delirium, and helps fix your colors. Traverse the Ulvenwald can also put a sorcery in the graveyard and find the lands you need, but turn into a big threat in the late game. Traverse for Ishkanah is a common line to extend the game, but after sideboard you can get something like Sigarda, Heron’s Grace or Gisela, the Broken Blade if you have the white mana to cast them.

Woodweaver’s Puzzleknot and Harnessed Lightning buy time and provide a nice energy boost. Deadlock Trap can slow down your opponent or add some energy to the reserve.

Vessel of Nascency is the best way to dig deep into your deck and make sure delirium is easy to turn on. Being able to find a creature, land, or Aetherworks Marvel itself is huge, and being a permanent that gets sacrificed means you get incidental energy with a Marvel already in play.

The big innovation to this deck that can completely change the game is Descend upon the Sinful. This powerful mythic can wipe the board in the face of adversity and provide a 4/4 Angel for your troubles. This already sounds nice, but there is so much more. Descend will exile all creatures. That means that Grapple with the Past won’t be returning their Emrakul. That also means that Selfless Spirit and Archangel Avacyn‘s abilities don’t do anything to stop it. Spell Queller can’t touch it. The really incredible part about a card like Descend upon the Sinful in a deck with Aetherworks Marvel is the possibility to cast it at instant speed. Is there any opponent out there who won’t be activating their Gideon, Ally of Zendikar that’s indestructible to attack for 5? An instant speed Descend will wipe that planeswalker, his entire army, and any Selfless Spirits or Avacyns with them as well. You may even get a 4/4 flying creature out of the deal.
